There are a LOT of headshots happening over here — A LOT. And I am not much of a blogger. Here are a few favorites from some past shoots that I really enjoyed creating. I love all my clients, and just because I don’t feature you — don’t worry! Its not because I didn’t love your shoot! Give me some time, I will eventually catch up blogging! (someday ;) maybe)

Headshot and Branding

Your headshot can help brand your business — It is often one of the first points of contact your client will have. Seeing who you are, how you present yourself and the overall image make an impression. How do you want to be seen? What look appeals to you that is cohesive with your business? Are colors important? Wardrobe styling? Body language? All these components are important. All of them work together to create the look and message you want to communicate. I love it when my clients put a lot of thought into this. It DOES make a difference.

Photographer's Creative Process

Every now and then I feel stuck, or inspired, or maybe a little of both… That’s when I usually reach out and do a model call… And let the creativity begin! Sometimes, to get past that stuck feeling, I need to create something very specific, just for me… In this case it was using all the red roses for a red-themed portrait. And my vision was realized and its just so darn gratifying to take something in your head and make it into a real tangible thing. Its a process, this creativity thing.

Bogus Basin SNOW Family Portraits!

Boise Friends - Its that time of year when I am wrapping up all my sessions in time for Christmas delivery -- And this one takes the cake! Freezing, magical fog and snow at Bogus Basin! Aren't they they cutest?

Its tough to get everything together this time of year — especially things that really have to be planned in advance so they’re ready weeks before Christmas — but the effort is SO worth it! Just look at these gorgeous memories that will be passed down through generations!

Celebrating Mother's Day

I love portraits to celebrate motherhood — at any stage of life. It is so meaningful, memorable, and honestly, its the ONE time that a lot of moms will allow themselves to be photographed — sometimes an excuse or reason is needed… And I will take any and all reasons! I don’t have any professional portraits with my mother… Or any professional portraits of just my mother for that matter. MOMS! Do this for your kids! Exist in beautiful portraits that they will treasure for generations to come! I cannot stress this point enough— it may seem trivial and silly now to take the time, spend hours figuring out outfits and investing in hair and makeup so that you look and feel your best —- but THIS IS A GIFT for your kids, your grandkids and beyond. Here is a girl who is going to take on the world — and make it a better place. McKenzie is a force for good and empowerment the women of Boise Idaho and the Treasure Valley…And probably the state of Idaho… And the world. She has created a women’s networking group called Boise Boss Babes, which is a place of education, support and networking for the women living in the Boise, Meridian, Eagle and surrounding areas. I have personally experienced the passion that she has for her vision, understood the goals she has set for herself… And man, is this lady determined. Its gonna happen. Watch out Boise, this babe is taking over!

Puppy Love - Boise Pet Portraits

Aren’t these pups the cutest? Some of my clients have four legs… And that makes me so happy. For my clients whose family extends our four legged friends (mine does!) I say, bring them! Include them in your family portrait. And better yet, schedule a session for them! How wonderful to celebrate our best friends who are always there for us, a constant companion and giver of comfort and love. Boise friends, I may just be scheduling a puppy mini session somewhere in the future — these pictures are just so much fun!

Winter Fashion Shoot

Boise Snow! Fun Fashion Shoot at Reid Merril Park in Eagle, Idaho

When it became clear that THIS was the last of the snow we were going to have for the year… And I still had not done the epic beautiful creative shoot in the snow that I had been envisioning for months, I sent out a call for models who were available NOW! Steph and Ang came through for me! This Winter Wonderland complete with gorgeous furs, flowing skirts, gorgeous hair and makeup was the stuff that I had been dreaming of! The Treasure Valley usually gets a few bouts of snow, and then its gone. On this particular day, I am pretty sure the snow had melted by later that evening. So the timing was perfect. This is going to be an annual thing. Now I am dreaming of how I can top it for next year. I also have families lined up for the next snow for their family portraits. C’mon Boise weather! Work with us!!

Boise Barista turned Model

The day Lovely Lia created beautiful fashion, boudoir, creative portraits in Meridian, ID

I met Lia in downtown Boise at a coffee shop and immediately knew that I HAD to photograph her. She moved like a dancer, and had the most beautiful hair and eyes and was simply stunning. Now how to approach someone, tell them these things and not scare them away.... ! Thankfully Lia was excited to model for me and we were able to create an absolutely STUNNING shoot together at my Meridian Idaho studio. Gorgeous portraits that toe the line between traditional portrait, fashion portrait, and boudoir.... This is my happy place. Lovely Lia has moved from the Treasure Valley, and now works as a skincare specialist and is pursuing her career in dance and music far away from the Northwest, but I will be forever grateful for the day I was brave enough to ask for this shoot and she was kind enough to agree :)

I haven’t done as much boudoir photography recently as I would like…. And to be honest, since I no longer work in a studio, I had some doubts on how well I could execute the looks I wanted…. Well, no more doubts :)
